Summer Reading Lists and book report information.

I have prepared for you a summer reading list of books for you to read this summer. You are required to read two books. I am asking you to pick two from the list and write a book report on each one.

The 6th grade book list is as follows:

  1. Maniac Magee by Jerry Spinelli

  2. Holes by Louis Sachar

  3. Hatchet by Gary Paulsen

  4. Island of the Blue Dolphin by Scott O’Dell

 

The 7th grade book list is as follows:

  1. The Giver by Lois Lowry

  2. A Tree Grows in Brooklyn by Betty Smith

  3. The Outsider by S.E. Hinton

  4. Esperanza Rising by Pam Munoz Ryan

 

The 8th grade book list is as follows:

  1. Fever by Laurie Halse

  2. Diary of Anne Frank by Anne Frank

  3. The Book Thief by Markus Zusak

  4. A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L’Engle

**Check your local library for the books.

Book Reports are to be written as follows:

Heading should have your name, date and grade. top left side of the paper

Title of the book should be in the front and center of the page with the author under the title.

Setting: where does the story take place? Summary will include 3 paragraphs: introduction (2 sentences), body (5 or 6 sentences) about the story, including a brief description about the character(s).  The conclusion (3 or 4 sentences) about what you have learned or gained about the book? Lastly, 2 paragraphs should be about what you liked and disliked about the book. 

The book report should have 5 paragraphs. You may type it. If you write it, please write neatly in pen. If you have any questions regarding your book reports, please email me. Please do not email your book reports. The book reports will be due on the first day of school in September.
